Real winger set for Reds?

Dutch star tempted by Reds

Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart has admitted he would seriously consider a switch to the Premier League if it meant he has a better prospect of first team football.

The World Cup finalist is behind Kaka in the pecking order at the Whites but impressed during the tail end of last season.

Since playing for Holland in South Africa, van der Vaart has attracted interest from a host of Barclays Premier League sides, with Manchester United the most prominent.

However, now heavyweights Liverpool and Chelsea have been linked with the 27-year-old.

The Blues have been pursuing team mate Kaka over the summer but Carlo Ancelotti has admitted a move for the Brazilian would not be possible.

"I have heard of the interest from Liverpool and Chelsea - and that is very flattering," he said.

"They are both giants, and if they could offer first-team football it may prove impossible to turn down."

"I think I have the relationship with Madrid where they understand my position and would let me hold talks," he added.

Both sides have already bolstered their attacking ranks with Joe Cole swapping Stamford Bridge for Anfield and Yossi Benayoun making a move in the opposite direction.

With the Oxford boys having almost completed the follow-up to 2007's 'In Rainbows' guitarist Ed O'Brien has revealed that it will be released this year and its their best so far.

He told Adam Buxton's BBC 6Music show: "We're in the heart of the record. It's genuinely exciting. It's very different from what we did last time. It's really nice to be doing this. It's so good to be making music with the band that you feel is still as good as it's ever been."

Asked about the release date he continued, "Ideally, it would be great if it came out sometime this year. It has got to. I hope so. We're at the finishing line. When you're making a record, a film, writing a book for ages and ages you think the finishing line is miles away. Now it feels it's in touching distance. But of course, it being a creative process, at the last bit also, you have bursts of energy, you achieve a lot of things in a small period of time and then you're nearly there. it might slow down. But yeah, hopefully it will be a matter of weeks."

The Muse frontman - who has secretly been dating the 'Bride Wars' star for the past few months - is set to be introduced to Kate's actress mum Goldie Hawn but says he is a little daunted at the prospect.

He said: "I haven't met Goldie yet. We are meeting up next week. I'm quite nervous. You don't want her reading daft stories online - it's embarrassing when you meet someone's family for the first time."

While Matt says things between him and Kate are going really well, he says it's far too early to be thinking about marriage.

He said: "Things are going great at the moment. I am very happy.

"We just have fun together and are seeing how it goes. Kate is great. We have tried to keep things private so haven't told anyone how we met or nay details like that. We are just doing are thing.

"It's a little bit too soon to talk about weddings and stuff. Ask me in a few months though. I'll let you know how it goes with Goldie - and then who knows?"

Muse-say-they-sold-their-souls-to-Twilight

Muse bassist Chris Wolstenholme says they sold their souls for inclusion on Twilight soundtracks and US fame.

Speaking to BBC newsbeat, Wolstenholme discussed the process of contributing songs to each Twilight movie.

He said, ''m not sure how cool it is to be on those kind of things but sometimes you've just got to get your music out there in different ways.'

Muse have contributed a song to each film in the franchise ' 'Supermassive Black Hole' for Twilight, 'I Belong To You' for New Moon and 'Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)' for the latest film Eclipse.

Wolstenholme admitted that they supplied the songs in order to boost their profile in the US.

't's very difficult in America because you don't have anything like [BBC] Radio 1," he said, "Nothing is national. You have to take every opportunity you get over there, and sometimes you have to sell your soul.'
